International Food and Drink Festival
14 – 16 July 2017
Who are Fair Trade Cardiff?
Fair Trade Cardiff is a group of volunteers and organisations who want to raise awareness and consumption of fair trade throughout Cardiff. We organise events, work with the Council, organisations and schools, and maintain Cardiff’s Fairtrade City status. Cardiff was the first Fairtrade capital city in the world, and Fair Trade Cardiff has recently been successful in renewing this status which now runs until March 2019. We are a friendly bunch who welcome anyone interested in taking part.
What will volunteers be doing?
Fair Trade Cardiff has partnered with Cardiff’s prime Fair Trade shop, Fair Do’s, to sell much needed drinks, snacks and chocolate to festival visitors throughout the weekend. Alongside this there will be materials about Fair Trade and Trade Justice on the stall. There will also be some examples of other Fair Trade food products. Volunteers will work together to:
- Sell products on the stall
- Keep the stall stocked
- Talk to customers about the products
- Answer basic questions about Fairtrade
- Encourage visitors to pick up materials
- Encourage people interested in learning more to sign up to our newsletters
- We always have a Fairtrade Banana costume if anyone fancies dressing up! (This is optional)
What if I don’t know anything about Fairtrade?
Never fear! We are working with Fair Trade Wales to put on some information and training sessions about Fairtrade and the stall itself in the two weeks leading up to the festival. Here you will be able to meet other people who are volunteering, learn more about Fair Trade, and try out some of the tasty food products we will be selling on the weekend. These are:
- Tuesday 4 July, 18.00-19.00, Soho Coffee, St. Davids centre, Cardiff
- Monday 10 July, 11.30 -12.30, Temple of Peace, Cardiff
