Fair Trade Cardiff
– Current opportunities
Chair: We are looking for a committed individual with a vision for the future of Fair Trade in Cardiff. The Chair is one of our elected volunteer positions whose responsibilities include: calling and leading meetings (4-5 per year), holding the groups external relationships, and planning and submitting Cardiff’s application for Fairtrade City status (every two years). You need be a good facilitator with an understanding of what Fair Trade is. The time commitment is a few hours a fortnight, with slightly more around meeting times. This and the secretary’s positions are available as trainee positions with training and mentoring provided.
Treasurer: Have you got experience of managing finances, banking and providing financial reports? We are looking for an experienced treasurer with responsibility for managing our accounts, providing financial reports, and identifying possible funding opportunities. The Treasurer is one of our elected volunteer positions. You will also be expected to attend the majority of our meetings (4-5 per year) and provide a running account of our finances. We are a small group with a few payments each year, therefore this role has a time commitment of a few hours every quarter.
Press and content officer: We are looking for someone who is interested in telling our Fair Trade stories. If you have some experience, knowledge or study of working with the press and media then please get in touch. The role includes attending meetings and producing content several times a year. This is particularly important around Fairtrade Fortnight and the International Food and Drink Festival. Work is carried out at home, so access to a computer and the internet is required. You can be a member of Fair Trade Cardiff as an individual or an organisation. Being a member volunteer includes coming to Fair Trade Cardiff meetings, where we work together to help achieve our action plan. Examples include working with schools, ordering materials, helping at stalls and talking with businesses, community organisations and the Council. We have around four meetings a year to help plan our work. Members are required to attend a total of two meetings or events each year.
Members elect the committee each year at our AGM. The committee can have up to three positions which are:
Fair Trade Wales
Fair Trade Wales coordinates and supports Fair Trade activities across the whole of Wales and is based in Cardiff.
