Steering group positions available

Fair Trade Cardiff is looking for people to join our steering committee in the following positions: Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. We are looking to fill there elected positions at our AGM in September.

Cardiff is the first Fairtrade capital city in the world, and an important part of the global Fair Trade movement in the worlds first Fair Trade Nation, Wales. Fair Trade raises awareness of treating and paying fairly farmers and workers who grow and make the products we love.

We are a group of volunteers and organisations who organise and take part in events and campaigns to raise awareness of fair trade throughout Cardiff. We  work to maintain Fairtrade Capital city status for Cardiff. A small but growing group, we are looking for new members to join in and shape our future plans – and  wear the famous banana suit!*

Steering group – positions available

Chair: We are looking for a committed individual with a vision for the future of Fair Trade in Cardiff. The Chair is one of our elected positions whose responsibilities include: calling and leading meetings (4-5 per year), holding the groups external relationships, and planning and submitting Cardiff’s application for Fairtrade City status (every two years). You need be a good facilitator with an understanding of what Fair Trade is. The time commitment is a few hours a fortnight, with slightly more around meeting times. Secretary: Are you organised and passionate about making the world a fairer place? If so, our secretary’s position is for you! We are looking for a team player who can keep Fair Trade Cardiff on track. The Secretary is one of our elected positions whose responsibilities include: managing our contacts, sending out emails and newsletters, and keeping clear notes from meetings. You need to be organised, committed and self-motivated, with an ability to learn and pick up new systems. The time commitment is a few hours a fortnight, with slightly more around meeting times. Treasurer: Have you got experience of managing finances, banking and providing financial reports? We are looking for an experienced treasurer with responsibility for managing our accounts, providing financial reports, and identifying possible funding opportunities. The Treasurer is one of our elected positions. You will also be expected to attend the majority of our meetings (4-5 per year) and provide a running account of our finances. We are a small group with a few payments each year, therefore this role has a time commitment of a few hours every quarter.
